memorial day

we had a full day today.  we started the day working in the yard.  we have decided to reclaim our backyard from the dogs, giving them a smaller portion of the yard, and allowing ourselves more space.  currently, there is a lot of dirt in the yard due to three years of energetic running.  we learned today that gabe loves dirt.  he played for hours as we worked (and by that, i mean steve worked, i sat in a lawn chair and fought off nausea while keeping an eye in dirty gabe).  by the time we went inside, gabe was covered head to toe in mud and had his fair share of scrapes and bruises.  it was so fun just watching him be a kid.  

tonight, we went over to judith's house for memorial day dinner.  we hang out and ate and then played bocce ball like a pack of 80-year-olds.  it was a blast, and i was so glad to spend some time outside after all of the rain we have had.  our good friend ben steigner was there (and he brought banana pudding!  my favorite!).  it was great to spend some time with him, as he will be moving to korea in just a few months.  (on a side note, my sister will also be living in korea this year, and i am thrilled that she will have someone to spend christmas with!)  as always, gabe was a trooper and had a blast hanging out with the grown-ups.
