growing season

it seems appropriate that as we watch our vegetable plants outside flourish and grow, inside we cherish the growth of our own precious one.  the fourth sivyer to join our family is expected to arrive on christmas day (rather pretentious, don't you think?) and we are thrilled!

despite all of the first trimester exhaustion, i was able to get some gardening time in this week.  there are two roma tomato plants in particular that have gotten terribly out of hand and needed to be put in their place.  it took a great deal of work to tame and trellis them, but after much trimming, i was finally able to get them under control.  while i was at it, i did a rough count of how many green tomatoes they held.  fifty.  fifty tomatoes on two plants.  like i said, they are monstrosities.  and there are six other tomato plants.  perhaps i was not so far off when i hoped that we would be able to put away some tomato sauce this year...

in his big chair

lately, this is what gabe does while i garden.  he sits in his little blue chair.  a very serious guy.
