i have lived in st augustine for ten years now. seems a long time to still feel newish here. and even though i have lived here longer than i have been married and longer than i have been a mother, i still forget how near we are to the ocean. and i forget how lovely it is to go to the beach in the early morning or in the late evening.
this morning, we ventured to the beach as early as we could manage and it was so lovely. in fact, when we headed home after nearly two hours of wave surfing, critter catching and sand digging, it was still only about as late as it usually is when we finish up breakfast and all get dressed. it was perfect. and the kids were worn out before ten!
additionally, jonah is the best baby ever! not only did he hang out with us in the waves, he also took a little nap on the blanket and slept all the way home. i love that he is such an easygoing guy that we can take him wherever we go without any worry of trouble. also, a sandy beach-napping baby melts me.
