quite a hike

its been two years since my last trip to louisiana. my dad's entire family lives there, so its a big deal to not be able to make it more often. under unfortunate circumstances (the death of my grandfather), the boys and i packed up and left st. augustine quite suddenly (we're talking within an hour and a half of hearing the news... quite quickly for an over-planner like me) and headed to new iberia. we met up with my mom, moved everything to her car, drove to new orleans to pick my brother up at the airport at midnight, and got to uncle rod and aunt mary's house at just after 2:30. the next morning, the boys (and i) were up at 5. it was a long first day. but, despite all of the difficulty of a 13 hour drive with two little boys and the lack of sleep, it was a really nice visit. it was so great to see and catch up with family that i have missed and wish to see more of. not too many pictures taken, of course, because i only really took my camera out the one time, but here is what i've got.

So sorry for your loss, but glad it turned into a special family time.
