we celebrated steve's 26th birthday today. i love to bake cakes, but due to the fact that steve is not really a cake-eater, rarely find opportunity to do so without feeling like i will get stuck eating a whole cake by myself. however, this time around, i ignored steve's preferences and baked a cake using this recipe and frosting it with this recipe. i figured that steve needed an opportunity to demonstrate to gabe how to sing the birthday song and blow out the candles in preparation for his upcoming second birthday. also, note the purple bow that gabe chose for steve's gift.
steve's parents came to town for the day, and after lunch, we went to fort matanzas again. it was a gorgeous day, and gabe really loved the guns that they fired (he told us "boom" each time they fired). i love that in st. augustine you can see a person dressed in colonial clothes just about anywhere you go. also, there were owls nesting at the park, and if you know me, you know that this pleased me to no end.
it was such a nice, relaxing day celebrating a wonderful husband and father!
also, thanks to allison for pointing out that my favorite cloth diaper website finally released the calendar that my photo is featured in (see here if you have no idea what i am talking about). turns out, my picture (and my boy! and the fort!) are front and center! very cool.
