one!

today was gabe's first birthday! after a short flight from nashville to maryland, we spent the day with my mom, dad, and brother (and several of my brother's friends). we had a mini birthday celebration for gabe, and he loved the pirate cake that my mom and dad picked out for him! it was a great day, and i can't believe that my baby's first birthday has already come and gone. people tell me all the time how fast it all goes by, and they are right! it is hard to imagine that it has been a whole year since my sweet baby was born.

and here are a few things about one-year-old gabe:

:: he gives kisses with his mouth open. i often find him offering kisses to dogs (our dogs, my mom's dog, the dog at the house where i work...)

:: he yells "hey!" at anyone who will listen! it is the first word that he says and actually understands, and he uses it a million times a day with great enthusiasm.

:: he loves to be chased, and giggles uncontrollably when someone follows after him.

:: lately, he has become ridiculously silly. we will be in the car and he will start to giggle all to himself, and we imagine that he is telling himself a hilarious joke!

:: he loves lima beans.

:: he weighs 23.5 pounds and is 30 inches tall!

:: he is the coolest kid in the world, and we are so glad that he is a part of our lives!
